- Definition of Thriller: A novel, play, or movie with an exciting plot, typically involving crime or espionage.
- Psychological thrillers are a sub-genre within the “Thriller” genre.
- Often has rapid editing as the suspense builds, sometimes with high suspense that results in nothing. Keeping the viewer in constant suspense.
- Often gives insights to the past in order to help build the understanding of the character and how he got in the situation he finds himself in.
- Re-occurring themes in psychological thrillers include Reality, Perception, Identity, Death and sanity of Mind.
- Frequent storylines can include a family member going missing, or an unsolved mystery from the past coming back up.
